Ambrose Vusumuzi Richard Mabena

Vusi Mabena is a former Teacher. Has held various positions at different public institutions and companies in the private sector. He holds a BA (Hons) Degree a Post Graduate Diploma in Management, a Master of Management Degree, and a M. Phil in Applied Business Ethics. He also completed several Post Graduate Certificate Programmes.

In the private sector he has worked in the gasses industry, banking, development finance sector and the mining industry. Mr Mabena has also served in several boards in the private sector and State-owned institutions.

He is currently the Executive Secretary of the Mining Industry Association of Southern Africa (MIASA), a lobby and advocacy organization of Chambers of Mines in the SADC region. He is also serving as the Secretary General of the Association of Chambers of Mines and other Mining Associations in Africa (ACMMAA). This is a lobby and advocacy organization of private sector organizations in the mining sector in the African Continent. It aims to represent the voice of the mining sector at the African Union and plays a lobbying role on behalf of the mining sector at international investment platforms. As the representative of the Regional Chambers of Mines Mr. Mabena has also served as the Chairperson of the Regional Coordinating Mechanism on TB in the Mines in the SADC Region that is funded by the Global Fund.
Mr Mabena has always been involved with policy development in the mining sector. In his role at the Chamber of Mines he was involved with engaging with mining companies, mining communities, traditional authorities, unions, Parliament, and government.
