7th Mozambique Mining, Oil & Gas and Energy Conference is Live!
MMEC 2021 was officially opened by H.E. Filipe Nyusi, the President of Mozambique, with H.E. Ernesto Max Tonela, Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy.
The 7th Mozambique Mining, Oil & Gas and Energy Conference is live today, on 21st April 2021, under the theme “Utilizing Natural Resources as the Catalyst for Economic Development and Diversification”. The Official Opening Ceremony was live on-site, in Maputo, while the remaining sessions are virtual and available on the event platform, for the safety of all participants. The opening ceremony had the special participation of H.E. Filipe Nyusi, the President of Mozambique, and H.E. Ernesto Max Tonela, Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy.
The Honourable President of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, mentioned during his speech that “The government commits to endeavour all efforts to maintain peace and enable the further development of all projects in Mozambique, to help the economy thrive and ensure a good living level and conditions for the Mozambican people”. His Excellency added that “The LNG Mozambique Project have generated over 6,500 jobs. In the medium term, the gas production in the different modalities will generate projects of approximately 39 billion of investments throughout the country that will generate, in a period of 20 years, starting from 2022, 70,000 formal jobs.”
For the live Opening Ceremony, Estêvão Tomás Rafael Pale, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH), Carlos Zacarias, Chairman, Instituto Nacional de Petroleo (INP), Pedro Nguelume, Executive Board Member, Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), Adriano Silvestre Sêvano, Director General, Instituto Nacional de Minas de Moçambique (INAMI), Agostinho Vuma, President, Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA), and many others were present at the Joaquim Chissano Conference Centre.
While the day 1 of the virtual conference focus on Mozambique’s oil, gas and energy sectors, investments opportunities, the utilization of natural resources for social and economic growth and on the development of local content policies and strategies, day 2 will include sessions of debate on the mining activities – current and future plans, infrastructure development for the gas in Mozambique, the increasing of the energy capacity, and sustainable mineral resource development. NEW – This event edition also includes a post-conference webinar, taking place online on 23rd April 2021, focusing on “Looking ahead-considering green growth for the natural resources sector”.
For the safety and security of all our attendees, this edition was organised under the hybrid format, but due to limited number of seats available on site, in Maputo, the event was accessible to everyone VIRTUALLY with new online features, allowing participants to attend all sessions and post-conference webinar from the comfort of their homes. The virtual App is a great tool to interact with other participants, arrange meetings, see exhibitors & sponsors, and access the virtual exhibition hall.
The MMEC event was, once again, officially endorsed by the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy of Mozambique and by ENH – Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos.
